PixelScale is built privacy-first, exactly like its sister site TokenScale. Nothing you type or set in the calculator ever leaves your browser, we use no advertising cookies, and we never sell your data. This page explains exactly what is and isn't collected — and your rights under European law.
PixelScale (pixelscale.dev) is operated by Bilton Projects (Will Bilton), the "data controller" for the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR. You can reach us about anything on this page at will@biltonprojects.com.
The cost calculator runs entirely in your browser. Every slider value and choice is computed by JavaScript on your own machine and never transmitted to any server. Your background/palette choice is stored locally (in your browser's localStorage) so the site remembers it next time; it never leaves your browser.
To understand which features are useful, we record a small set of fixed, anonymous actions during a visit, using the same privacy-preserving system as TokenScale. No cookies, no IP address, no fingerprint — and none of it can identify you as an individual. The events are:

Automatic page behaviour is not counted — only choices you make.runwayml.com) — never the full address, path, or query.?from=newsletter) — it describes the link that was shared, not you.Each event also carries: a random session tag that exists only in your browser's memory, is created fresh on every page load and discarded when the tab closes (never stored, never a cookie, not linkable across visits or to a person); a coarse, country-level location (two-letter code supplied automatically by our network — no city, no precise location, no IP); a coarse device type (desktop, tablet or phone — the full user-agent string is never stored); and the host of the page that referred you (hostname only, path and query stripped; our own pages are marked "internal"). Events are sent to our own endpoint (events.tokenscale.dev, shared with TokenScale and stamped "pixelscale" so the two sites' numbers stay separate) and aggregated with Cloudflare Analytics Engine, where raw events are retained only around 90 days; nightly aggregate totals (counts per day, nothing about any individual) are kept longer.
The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the site (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Because it places nothing on your device, uses no cookies, and records no stored or cross-visit identifier, in our assessment it does not require prior consent under the ePrivacy rules. The opt-out is built in: if your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, the script sends nothing at all — you can confirm this in the page source (track.js).
Like every website, our host — Cloudflare Pages — automatically processes limited technical data (such as your IP address and browser type) to deliver pages and protect the site against abuse. We rely on our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website. We don't use these logs to build profiles of visitors.
Some pages embed a Beehiiv signup form. We only ever receive your email if you choose to type it in; the lawful basis is your consent, withdrawable via the unsubscribe link in any email. The form is provided by Beehiiv and may set its own cookies — see the Beehiiv privacy policy. If you never use the form, we never receive your email.
PixelScale sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The site uses only local browser storage for your preferences (palette, and the single anonymous "been here before" note described above), and our analytics are cookie-free. The only cookies that may be set are those from the Beehiiv newsletter form, and only if you interact with it.
If you're in the EU or UK, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of any personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict its processing. In practice the only information that identifies you personally is a newsletter email you chose to give us; the anonymous measurement described above isn't linked to your identity, so there is no individual record of you in it to retrieve or erase. Email will@biltonprojects.com to exercise any right. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
PixelScale is a tool for creators and businesses and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.
If we change what we collect, we'll update this page. Last updated: 8 August 2026 — first version, published together with the launch of PixelScale's anonymous, cookieless usage analytics (described above). Before this date the site carried no analytics script of its own.
